The Academy by the Sea is located on a sixteen-acre, oceanfront campus in beautiful Carlsbad, California. Our summer academic boarding session offers a co-educational program that balances academics and recreation for a fulfilling experience. Designed especially for students entering grade 7 through exiting grade 10, the academic program helps students prepare for their upcoming school year and for the academic experiences that lie ahead in secondary education.
For the young man or woman, who is eager to learn, wants to prepare for college, or wants to improve in a particular subject, The Academy by the Sea is the perfect summer experience. The Academy offers a variety of subjects from which students pick their four classes that will comprise their summer schedules. For students whose learning style has caused academic difficulty, the Academy offers small class sizes for more individualized teacher attention and expanded classroom participation. All students are encouraged to learn at their own pace and work hard in order to reach their full potential. A mandatory proctored evening study hall with access to teachers, gives students the opportunity for a structured study atmosphere. Students also have access to our campus library and computer lab with internet access.
To provide a well rounded summer experience, students participate in recreational activities each weekday afternoon. Students have access to an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, athletic fields, gymnasium, oceanfront recreational center, and a lifeguarded beach area. On weekends students enjoy planned off-campus excursions to many exciting sites in Southern California. These excursions may include professional sporting events, theme parks and theaters.
In addition, The Academy by the Sea also offers non-academic recreational and surf/body boarding camps, also located on our beautiful ocean-front campus.
