Hockaday School

http://www.hockaday.org

Founded in 1913, The Hockaday School is the nation's largest all-girls' independent school enrolling more than 1,000 girls, boarding and day, from Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12. It is a thriving academic community for girls that encourages character, courtesy, scholarship, and athletics. We are a college preparatory school with graduates attending Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Princeton, Duke and Yale every year. Hockaday has won the SPC Championship in swimming, tennis, field hockey, lacrosse, golf, and basketball. Hockaday also boasts an outstanding fine arts program that includes drama, dance, photography, ceramics, studio art, orchestra, choir and a nationally ranked debate team. Classes average between 14-16 students. Hockaday is located on 100 acres in the heart of Dallas. Our facilities include an $80,000,000 educational and residential complex of 12 buildings, which includes a new 54,000 square foot Academic Research Center, Wellness Center, Science Building, and Fine Arts Wing. Hockaday seeks to enroll a diverse student body. Currently, 8 states and 12 foreign countries are represented in our student body and 36 percent are students of color. The School’s Boarding Department is part of Hockaday’s history and identity since its founding, accepting the first boarder in 1915. It is a unique experience where residents become more than classmates and friends, they become family.
